Lizzy Balsiger, MS, CCC-SLP

Lizzy B., MS, CCC-SLP is a licensed speech-language pathologist and the owner of Wisconsin Speech and Swallow Therapy, where she specializes in the evaluation and treatment of adolescent and adult communication and swallowing disorders. She earned her Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, consistently ranked among the top programs in the nation for speech-language pathology.

Lizzy has clinical experience across skilled nursing, inpatient, and outpatient settings, with a particular focus on adult neurological conditions. She is SPEAK OUT!®–certified for individuals with Parkinson’s disease and is currently pursuing her Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) credential. Her areas of expertise include cognitive-communication impairments and swallowing disorders, with competency in the use of robust, evidence-based swallowing rehabilitation techniques, including Expiratory Muscle Strength Training (EMST) and tongue-strengthening protocols using the IOPI/tonguometer.

Her passion for the field is deeply personal. Growing up with a nonspeaking sibling shaped her understanding of the importance of joy, laughter, and meaningful connection beyond words—values that continue to guide her therapeutic approach today.

Lizzy is an active leader within the profession, serving on the Wisconsin Speech-Language-Hearing Association (WSHA) Board and participating in ongoing advocacy efforts for both patients and clinicians. She has presented research at the national level through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), including work focused on the management of swallowing disorders in adults with neurodevelopmental conditions.

Through compassionate, individualized, and evidence-based care, Lizzy is committed to helping individuals and families achieve meaningful, functional outcomes that enhance quality of life.
